Beliefs

We believe that God has given us everything we need to know in the Bible. Because of that, we base our beliefs and practices on what the Bible says. Look below to see how the Bible answers the following questions.

What has God done to reconcile sinful people to Himself?

Because God is holy and we are sinful, we have a problem. According to the Bible, our sinfulness has caused us to become enemies of God with no ability to have a right relationship with Him on our own. God is just and will punish our rebellion against Him with death and eventually the eternal lake of fire. However, God is also love and has provided a way for sinful people to be forgiven and reconciled to Himself. He accomplished this by sending His Son, Jesus, to die in our place. God became a man, lived a perfect life, willingly died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day. Because of what God did, all who repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus will be forgiven by God, saved from God’s judgment, and be given a new life in Christ.

The following Bible verses show these truths: 1 Pet. 1:16; Rom. 3:10-12, 23; Isa. 59:2; Deut. 32:4; Rom. 6:23; Rev. 20:11-15; 1 John 4:16b; Eph. 1:7; Rom. 5:10Isa. 53:5; 2 Cor. 5:211 Cor. 15:3-5; Acts 20:21; Col. 1:14John 3:16; 2 Cor. 5:17 ↩︎

Why does our church exist?

In relation to God, our purpose is to worship and glorify Him, to be holy for Him, and to obey His commands.

• Scriptures: John 4:23-241 Cor. 10:31Eph. 1:121 Pet. 1:14-16Eph. 5:23-24
• Because of all that God has done for us, we gratefully choose to worship Him and give Him the glory He deserves.
• We also strive to be holy like God as much as is possible by conforming our lives to His character and by obeying His commands.

In relation to other believers, our purpose is to make disciples, uphold and proclaim all of God’s truth, and fellowship together.

• Scriptures: Matt. 28:19-20Eph. 4:11-16Acts 20:271 Thess. 5:14John 13:35Acts 2:42Heb. 10:25
• As followers of Christ, we seek to follow His command to make disciples.
• We do this by teaching and applying the truths God has given to us in the Bible.
• We also value God-given fellowship with other believers as we can learn from and be encouraged by them.

In relation to unbelievers, our purpose is to preach the gospel and to be a light in this dark world.

• Scriptures: Mark 16:152 Cor. 5:20-212 Cor. 2:15-17Matt. 5:14-16Phil. 2:15Eph. 5:8-11
• As ambassadors for Christ, we seek to proclaim the gospel to all including the need for repentance from sin and faith in Jesus.
• We also seek to live holy lives that honor God, that showcase the change God has made in our lives, and that is not conformed to this sinful world.
